I’m an architectural photographer. I work with amazing architects to create images that convey the experience of actually being in their designed spaces. I don’t simply document spaces; I combine numerous photographs into idealized images to present spaces as you would see them if you were really there.
Imagine spending 5 minutes on a Manhattan sidewalk looking at the newly-opened highrise across the street. Pedestrians, bicyclists, and cars rush past; a girl rounds the corner in her new rollerblades followed closely by her mom pushing a stroller; the sun breaks through the clouds and glitters across the new glass facade. All these elements comprise the richness of your experience. Now translate those elements into a single image: a brief memory of your time in that place. That’s what I do!
To achieve this, I composite together photographs of a space at varying brightnesses and under natural, artificial, and added lighting, with photographs of people using the space, moving through it, and passing by outside the windows. Sometimes I deploy huge reflectors, translucent scrims, and black “flags” to shape light and remove or add reflections in glass. I often remove as many elements as I add to an image - including distractions like overhead wires, unsightly HVAC equipment, and parked cars.
I strive to remove friction from the photoshoot process to provide my clients with an efficient, streamlined, and enjoyable experience that flexibly accommodates photoshoots of all sizes.
I prefer to work collaboratively with my clients, reviewing photographs together as they're captured to problem-solve in real time. This method ensures that my finished photographs match each client’s vision.
Before The Photoshoot
We'll begin with a discovery call to get to know each other, your project, and your vision. I’ll follow up with a proposal, we’ll sign the contract, schedule the photoshoot, and lock-in your photoshoot date(s) with a deposit payment. Optionally, we’ll conduct a walkthrough of your project together, establish a shot list, source models, and obtain site permission.
During The Photoshoot
We’ll collaborate throughout the photoshoot to ensure that the photographs I capture accurately reflect your design intent for the project. If you're unable to attend the photoshoot, I can provide in-progress proofs.
After The Photoshoot
I'll send a proofing gallery link, you'll select the proof photographs you'd like to purchase, I'll retouch them, deliver the finished photographs via a download gallery, and send the final invoice.
I’m based in New Haven, Connecticut and working worldwide.
